The family and I will be heading to my sister’s tomorrow morning for Thanksgiving dinner and I’m looking forward to the day off. Things have been very busy for me lately, and they’ll continue in the same vein for some time, but I’m more in the holiday spirit than I have been for the last couple of years. I’ve been asked about pictures from the writer’s retreat I went on. I don’t have many, mainly because was nice enough to not torture everyone who’d avided makeup for the weekend, but here are a few that I do have. You can see from the pictures how peaceful the place was, and understand how a person could get a lot accomplished in 2 days. It was great to slow down a little.

The retreat this last weekend was an amazing inspiration. Rosemary Clement-Moore and Candace Havens gave some amazing workshops while we were there.
Rosemary gave us tricks and tips to make our writing stronger by showing a character’s emotions rather than telling what they were. As an example, she had us write a short scene (like 3 paragraphs or so) that showed a character’s emotion without using any word that specifically spelled that emotion out.
